My electric guitar has a lot of fret buzz on the 6th 5th and I think 4th string. I’ve only been playing for a few years, so I don’t know much about guitar repair. I have my guitar lessons in a few days, so should I just wait until then, or is there an easy way that I can solve the problem myself?

alright i’ve always been told that you should have your thumb anchored behind the neck of your guitar/bass so as to have enough force to easily fret
(imagine giving somebody the ”A-okay” sign with your 2nd finger & thumb, basically this is what it should look like) & that you should NEVER be able to see somebodys thumb rising above the guitar neck.
HOWEVER just i was on youtube looking at the likes of Flea, Rory Gallagher & john Frusciante.
they all seem to do it & all are/were unbelievable on guitar/bass.
so is it necessary? like if 3 very talented musicians can get around it it just makes me wonder

I’ve been playing classical guitar for some time now, but only recently started using actual music instead of tablature. I also play the violin. Being a monophonic instrument, you usually can sight read music pretty fast as you take it one note at a time. On the guitar on the other hand you have to find the precise note on the fretboard which the music is refering to and you have to play more than one note at a time a lot of the time… you also have to set up your fingering (RH & LH) to prepare for coming sections etc. So my question is…. does any really sight read Guitar music and not “study” it?? I mean is it reasonable to want to look at a score and play it through the first time you see it? (because this fairly easy with the violin)

I want to learn how to repair fret buzz on an acoustic guitar. Can anyone guide me to a site that provides a how to video or something that can give some demonstrations on how to alleviate fret buzzing? Im done with taking my guitars to professionals…I need to learn how to do it myself. Ive already visited “you tube” but nothing there was helpful. Any helpful ideas? I’ll throw in 10 points for the best guide. Thank you

It takes me a while to change the frets on a guitar neck. Maybe its because i didn’t memorize them. Any way, are there any practice aids or tools for that?

Shouldn’t it be a C like on a 6 string bass? Why is there only a 2 step gap between the G string of a guitar and the next one which is a B? There are 2 and a half between all the other strings on a guitar. 5th fret of each string matches the next string on a guitar except the G + B (4th fret G makes B). This doesn’t happen on a 6 string bass (B E A D G “C”). Why?

Here are 3 different triplets in tablature format played on the G string:
G–2-4-5–4-5-7–5-7-9–|
The notes are: A B C, B C D, and C D E.
Considering whole and half note spacing of these triplets, the first triplet begins with A, jumps 2 frets to B, and 1 fret to C; the second begins with B, jumps 1 fret to C, then 2 frets to D; the third begins with C, jumps 2 frets to D, and 2 frets to E.
The pattern is what I am after. I notice that many lead guitar solos, and especially shredder guitar licks, use these above patterns everywhere on the guitar fretboard over and over again.
I would like to know if there is any special name to these 3 note patterns?
