I’ve tuned the guitar using a meter and the meter indicates everything is tuned. Is something wrong? I am a guitar newbie.

Either something is tuned wrong or you have a problem with the nut or frets on your guitar.
On the B string, does the pitch change when you fret at the 1st and 2nd positions? If not, you’ve got a high fret that a guitar tech will have to fix for you.
    Otherwise, you mis-read the tuner.
You didn’t say if this was an acoustic or electric. The reason I ask is to determine if you’re able to plug into your tuner (electric) or you have to use the microphone in the tuner (acoustic).
When tuning on electric, I like to use the bridge pickup. For acoustic, make sure the room is fairly quite while you’re tuning.
    Good luck.
